About Us

Meet Christina and Filippo!

We are a multicultural, multilingual couple, both with Ph.D.s in foreign languages. We have over 40 years of combined experience in teaching foreign languages to children and adults. We have taught in France, Italy, & the United States. We are passionate about traveling the world and having our own young children grow up to be multilingual!

Education: Christina grew up in Hawaii and obtained her M.A. in Comparative Literature and Languages from Université de la Sorbonne-Paris IV, and her Ph.D. in French from C.U. Boulder. She taught French Language and Literature at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from 2016-2021.

Filippo was born in Bayeux, France and grew up in both France and Italy. He studied at the Univerisité de Lille in France, the Università di Roma in Italy and has his Ph.D. in Romance Languages and Literatures from Duke University.

Credentials: Filippo is certified to teach French in the State of Colorado and currently teaches French at a private school in Denver. He has also previously taught Spanish and Italian. He is a certified camp director in the State of Colorado, and is certified in the TPRS© method of teaching foreign languages.

Christina has expertise in program curriculum and has taught children of all ages. She has her certificate in Contemporary Theater from the Université d’Avignon and enjoys creating engaging theatrical sketches for children to participate in, and learn from while having fun!

We speak: French, Italian, Spanish, and are currently learning Arabic, and Japanese. Christina also speaks some Hawaiian.

Teaching Methods: TPRS© and the Communicative Method (CLT) for Second Language Acquisition. CLT focuses on preparing language learners for real-life interactions and every-day contexts in the target language.

Fun fact: We met in Versailles, France!

Travel: We have traveled all over the U.S. and Europe, to the Middle East, and to Mexico and Canada. We look forward to traveling to Asia soon.

We believe: That speaking foreign languages opens doors to a global understanding of the world, and the possibility to learn and be enriched from other people and their cultures. Its a small world, after all!

What we do: Our language summer camp program was born from the desire to give our children an immersive summer experience in a foreign language before traveling abroad. Currently we are the ONLY foreign language camp in Boulder for elementary-aged children. We hope to give your child a jump-start in the love of language-learning too! Join us for French Camp this summer. We hope to add more languages in the future!
